“Life is unpredictable,
It changes with the seasons,
Even your coldest winter,
Happens for the best of reasons,
And though it feels eternal,
Like all you’ll ever do is freeze,
I promise spring is coming,
And with it, brand new leaves.”
Erin Hanson
We all go through seasons in this life. Some good, some bad, some incredibly painful but all undeniably detrimental on our journey of learning and growing.
Recently, things have fallen perfectly in place and while I wish to live in this blissful medium for the rest of eternity, I find myself running circles around the inevitable downfall. How much will I hurt? What or who will I lose? Is it possible to be this happy? Some days I get so caught up with the fear of the dark days that I lose sight of the beautiful season that I’m in.
Why is it that we can’t accept happiness? Where we are in this life, this particular season that we are in? Why must we always be searching for more, or preparing for what’s next?
The value of time comes with the notion that we are uncertain of how much we are given. It is so easy to say “live for the moment” but how many of us actually are?
So whether you feel like your light has almost burnt out, whether it’s burning brighter than ever or you have found yourself somewhere in-between, I encourage you to embrace it! However that may look to you and whatever that means. Be completely and wholeheartedly there. For it is through the darkness that we can appreciate the light, through hurt that we will find hope, and through loss that we can discover love. Without one, the other ceases to exist and loses its luster. So we embrace it, we live it, and we (eventually) learn to love it. Every season, every day, every stinkin’ moment of this life.
xx, Paige
Well spoken! Thanks for the needed reminder.
