2020 has been all but merry and bright. And while traditions are being tossed out the window and plans on an indefinite hold, not all hope is lost. This year we have such a unique opportunity to slow down, draw close to those we love and experience a season mixed with new traditions and hopeful hearts. Though restaurants are closed and ugly sweater parties are canceled, there are still a few (COVID-approved) things you can do to stay both happy and healthy this holiday season. I’ve put together a quick list of things/places you should definitely check out over the next few months.
Tree Farm
Even if you’ve already cut down your tree or dusted the old one off out of your basement, I’d still recommend making your way to the Lenderinks Christmas Tree Farm. They have such a festive and family friendly atmosphere that is definitely worth checking out. Come for the trees and stay for the complimentary hot chocolate & marshmallows (for roasting).
Other local tree farms I’ve been to and would highly recommend:
Holiday Lights Parade
Take a stroll down Lake Michigan Drive to see an incredible display put on by the Shine Holiday Lighting of Holland. With nearly 150,000 bulbs and 230 lit trees, it’s sure to brighten up your holiday spirit! {Pro-tip} Make a date out of it and grab some hot chocolate at one of your favorite local spots! While you’re at it, be sure to take a spin down Christmas Card Lane located on 15620 Quincy St. (There are strings of lights and a sign at the entrance)
Igloo Dining
I have been so inspired by the way restaurants/coffee shops have pivoted this year in order to serve their clients and keep their doors open. One of the incredible, and absolutely adorable ways to continue supporting local is dining at any number of the businesses with newly added domes. Most domes are complete with individual heaters, sanitizing supplies, and cozy seating arrangements. Bundle up, support small and don’t forget to tip your servers!

Drive In Movie {Holiday Edition}
Since you likely won’t be walking into a movie theatre anytime soon, feel the nostalgia of watching a movie from the comfort of your car at the Getty Drive-in movie theatre. Pack up the snacks, bring the comfy-cozy blankets and settle in for a holiday double feature. A few of the upcoming shows include The Christmas Chronicles 2, Christmas Vacation and the Polar Express.
